Create Hub is preparing for an art exhibition held in a total darkness - a first of its kind in the Middle East region, sure to provide a one-of-a-kind experience to visitors. Not being able to see reactivates your other senses to process and enjoy art. For this extraordinary show, audiences will have to use their sense of touch to enjoy the specially commissioned work by leading Ethiopian contemporary artist, Workneh Bezu, who has produced tactile art to be displayed in a blacked-out space. Bezu's work features canvasses layered and embossed with different textures such as rope, and includes words that can read by touch, so to simulate a similar sensation to reading braille.
In this exhibition, Create Hub is breaking the traditional gallery rules; audiences will be asked to touch the art, when this is usually forbidden - and unlike any other art experience, you will not be able to rely on your sense of sight or hearing. The goal is to enable people to rethink the way they perceive art.
