Alserkal Avenue, Dubai's arts hub, presents its third annual summer programme, under the theme 'Sensing Memory'. The series of workshops, lectures, performances, and seminars draws from the UAE’s creative community and beyond to explore the connection between the senses and our personal and collective memories. As part of the season of free events, Irish-Libyan photographer Jalal Abuthina takes us from Deira's bustling streets to the alleyways of Satwa. Jalal has spent more than a decade capturing visual reflections of Dubai, compiling some of his work into several self-published photo books. He will discuss the inspiration behind some of his projects that have helped preserve memories of disappearing areas of this rapidly changing city. The event will be moderated by Lola Boatwright, Managing Director, Gulf Photo Plus.
It is recommended to RSVP via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, with the subject line 'Visualising Memory'.
